President Stevandic attended the commemoration of 28 years since the suffering of Serbs in western Krajina

The President of the National Assembly Dr Nenad Stevandic attended today in Mrkonjic Grad, on the occasion of commemoration of 28 years since the suffering of Serbs in western Krajina, and wreaths laying, memorial prayer at the mass grave memorial, and at the central monument to the killed warriors in the Defensive-patriotic war.

At that occasion, Stevandic said that all victims from western Krajina municipalities, firstly those from Mrkonjic Grad, who were killed at their doorstep 28 years ago, are not forgotten and they represent an ever-after warning that we protect and build the Republic of Srpska.

“Their executors became dry and cursed and whatever they have done will dry off and everything we have protected and saved will last,” said Stevandic.   

He added that also those who are today trying to degrade the Republic of Srpska, by other means, will be registered as those who have taken and attacked else’s property.

“We still remain members of the same nation, we gather near the same monuments and cherish the same idea to protect what belongs to us, what is ours and what we lay claim to both in the centuries behind us and in front of us," said Stevandić.

The commemoration was attended by the Minister of Labor and Veterans-Disabled Protection Danijel Egić, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Savo Minić, the Minister of Transport and Communications Nedeljko Čubrilović and the Minister of Education and Culture Željka Stojičić, a delegation of the Third Republic of Srpska Infantry Regiment, representatives of organizations originating from the Defense-Patriotic war, and the heads of neighboring municipalities.

 In September and October 1995, the combined forces of the Croatian Army, HVO, and the so-called Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, supported by NATO, attacked 13 municipalities in Western Krajina and killed 2,014 Serb soldiers and civilians drove 120,000 Serbs from their ancient hearthstone, and robed movable property, and destroyed and disabled immovable property.
