The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandić, spoke today in Banja Luka with the members of the Association of Veterans of the Special Units of the VRS and MUP (Garda Panthers - Bijeljina, Wolves from the Drina - Zvornik, Vukovi from Vučijak and the 65th Protective Motorized Regiment) about the status and problems of the soldiers of the Republic of Srpska Army who were arrested by SIPA, following the orders of the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

Members of the Association informed President Stevandić about the mistreatment and arrest of members of the VRS who were arrested on the order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, and about double standards and injustice when it comes to the treatment of fighters from the Republic of Srpska and the so-called Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They expressed concern about the systematic abuse of the defendants and their families, stressing that these actions are inadmissible. Members of the Association expressed their dissatisfaction with the work of the institutions dealing with the prosecution of crimes against Serbs, considering that such cases are deliberately delayed.

President Stevandić said at the meeting that it is necessary to undertake activities to protect the status and rights of combatants. He placed special emphasis on providing adequate legal treatment, in order to prevent the rights of suspected members of the Army of Republic of Srpska from being threatened. In this context, he emphasized that, without justifying or defending any crime, all the accused must have equal rights and status, whether they are persons from the Republic of Srpska or the Federation. At the meeting, it was decided to discuss this topic through round tables, which, together with the activities of the Legislative Chamber and the decisions of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, will aim to fully elucidate this topic.
