The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Dr Nenad Stevandić said today after the meeting with Italian lawyer Angelo Tartaglia that Srpska will prepare medical documentation as the proof of illness of its citizens caused by NATO bombing by depleted uranium, but that the prominent Italian lawyer will be included in the proceedings against Christian Schmidt

The meeting with the Italian lawyer was attended by the Minister of Justice in the Government of the Republic of Srpska Milos Bukejlovic, the Minister of Health and Social Protection Alen Šeranić, and the Serbian lawyer Srdjan Aleksić, whose office leads proceedings against NATO in Serbia.

After the meeting, President Stevandic said that they agreed with the Italian lawyer Tartaglia that the medical documentation must be gathered as proof of illnesses caused by NATO bombing by depleted uranium.

“When NATO bombing is in question, it is a finished process in Italia and more than 350 verdicts have been brought. There are 35 proceedings led in Serbia now against NATO and these are led by lawyer Aleksić and his office”, said Stevandić.

He pointed out that the method of medical documentation of the consequences of the NATO bombing was discussed at the meeting in order to obtain accurate data for expert examination at foreign institutes.

“The plan has been made in order to gather medical documentation via the Ministry of Health and Social Protection while the Ministry of Justice together with lawyers will provide rapid initiation of the procedure determining the violation of the right to life. This is necessary in order to address the lawsuits against culprits of the NATO bombing, whether we are talking about NATO or its member countries", specified Stevandić.

He added that Srpska does not have a problem with financing these proceedings and called also the citizens of the Federation of BiH, whose health has been endangered by NATO bombing to get involved in this process.

Stevandic stressed that during the meeting of the lawyer Tartaglia with the President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik, a Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Zeljka Cvijanovic, and PM Radovan Viskovic, it has been agreed to include the lawyer in the proceeding against Christian Schmidt. :

"It was agreed to sue Schmidt as an illegal person who imposed laws without the mandate of the United Nations Security Council." The lawyer is ready to sue the members of the Council for the Implementation of Peace in BiH, who are not of the Dayton category, including the representative of Italy in that body, for abuse of office and supporting illegal acts. "Therefore, these are two court proceedings that will be initiated in the European legislation, in Italy and Germany," said Stevandić.

Lawyer Tartaglia confirmed that at the meetings in Banja Luka, he expressed his interest in participating in judicial proceedings to prove the threat to the lives and health of the inhabitants of Srpska as a result of the NATO bombing, and in the process of filing a lawsuit against Schmidt.

"We are planning to initiate proceedings before the European courts against Christian Schmidt, but the reason why I am participating in all this is because everything Mr. Schmidt is doing, he is doing it illegally." I want to do that first, and only then will I explain the strategy," said the distinguished Italian lawyer.

Minister Šeranić said that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection will provide support and actively participate in the upcoming legal process of proving the cause-and-effect relationship of the negative impact of the NATO bombardment with depleted uranium on the lives and health of people in Srpska.

He added that the legal process should follow the collection of certain medical data and identification of people in cooperation with legal structures, health, and other institutions of Srpska.

Aleksić, a lawyer from Niš, said that the cause-and-effect relationship of the bombardment with depleted uranium on people's lives and health has been absolutely proven in the cases and analyses.

On October 18, President Stevandić spoke with Tartaglia in Rome about the health and environmental consequences of the NATO bombing of the Republic of Srpska with depleted uranium.
