Members of the Committee on petitions, proposals and social control of the National Assembly visited the village Sopilja in the town of Nevesinje

Chairman of the Committee on petitions, proposals and social control of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Slobodan Protić and members of the Committee and the Ombudsman for Human Rights Ljubinko Mitrović, talked today in the municipal building in Nevesinje with the mayor of this municipality Milenko Avdalović, president of the municipal assembly Momčilo Vukotić and commander of Nevesinje police Slavenko Lučić on the problems of people who live in the village of Sopilja which are present since 2008 and threaten to escalate.

The meeting was attended by members of the Committee Nedeljko Glamočak, Nade Planinčević, Jasna Lukić, Mihnet Okić and MPs from Herzegovina Dragan Ristić and Zoran Pologoš.

Villagers of Sopilja for three years have been addressing the Committee on petitions, proposals and social control of the National Assembly, complaining about the problems that their neighbor Luka Čuljak, who blocked the driveway village, makes them, intimidates and destroys their property, which is why the police intervened even 442 times.

Members of the Committee on Petitions, proposals and social control of the National Assembly talk about the problems of people in the village of Sopilja in constant communication with representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Srpska, the police and the court in Trebinje.
Members of the National Assembly and the Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina, accompanied by Chief of Nevesinje police and representatives of local authorities then visited the village of Sopilja, where they talk to the families Matković, Kovačević and Spremo who seek for the final solution of the problem or to be provided with accommodation and be able to move.

"We are here today in Nevesinje, because as MPs who were elected by citizens of the Republic of Srpska we have an obligation to try to help the villagers. Here are clearly not functioning the institutions of the system," said chairman of the Committee Slobodan Protić.
Mayor of Nevesinje Milenko Avdalović has said that this is a major problem that has burdened the entire municipality of Nevesinje.
"The problem is beeing present for years. I ask you to exhauste the measures that you have available to help the old people in the village of Sopilja to which, because of the arbitrariness of a man, no ambulance can come,"said Avdalović.

It was agreed to soon organize a meeting in Nevesinje which will be attended by representatives of the municipality, the police, the District Court in Trebinje and the Committee on petitions, proposals and social control of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska which will discuss about all aspects of the problem of village Sopilja and who did what on its resolving.
