President Stevandić attended the commemoration 32 years of Serb suffering in Podrinje and Birč

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr Nenad Stevandic, attended today in Bratunac the event of commemorating 32 years of Serb suffering in Podrinje and Birč. This year's program was named ’32 YERAS-A CRIME WITHOUT PUNISHMENT“.

Apart from President Stevandic, the commemoration was also attended by the president of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik, His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije, his Hollines Mitropolit of Dabrobosna Hrizostom, Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic, prime minister Milos Vucevic, ministers in the governments of Srpska and Srbija, Serbian representatives in the joint institutions of BiH, the representatives of municipalities and cities from Srpska and Serbia, numerous delegations from the last war, as well as great number of citizens. 

 The commemoration began with a liturgy in the Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God in Bratunac, which was served by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabro-Bosnia.

Patriarch Porfirije said that the Serbian people will not give up their Orthodox faith, themselves and their people, either by grace or by force. "We know what the cross of Christ means and to follow it and choose its values. It also means a hindrance to some who would like to impose themselves as a rule, to obey them and adopt their system of values," said the patriarch in his sermon.

After the end of the liturgy, Patriarch Porfirije led the procession from the Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God to the cemetery in Bratunac, where he served a memorial service for the 3,267 killed in front of. Memorial cross at the cemetery in Bratunac.

Wreaths and flowers were also laid by families with two or more killed members, the ambassador of Russia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Veterans' Organization of the Republic of Srpska, the Republican Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Fighters and Missing Civilians of the Republic of Srpska, the Association of Disabled War Veterans, OSTA of the Army of the Republic of Srpska, UDAS, the Association Women of the Srpska War, the Association of Prisoners of Srpska, Serbian representatives in joint institutions, as well as many others.
