President Stevandic talked with the Director of the U.S. Embassy Office in Banja Luka

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandic, talked today, December 12, 2022, in his office in Banja Luka, with the Director of the U.S. Embassy Branch Office in Banja Luka, Brianna Powers.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged opinions on the application of the Election results in Bosnia and Herzegovina. President Stevandic stressed that the Republic of Srpska has been rapidly forming the authority according to the will of the people and respecting all legal and constitutional norms and expected deadliness.

Stevandic said that the Republic of Srpska should constitute a new government immediately after forming the Council of Peoples. By finishing this, the executive and legislative authorities will continue to function in full capacity.

“We will schedule the sitting of the National Assembly in a short period, where we will elect a new Government of the Republic of Srpska”, said Stevandic.

He also said that it is very important that immediately after this, the Council of Ministers of BiH is formed, and many important projects will be implemented, improving the country's economy and the citizens' life.

The President of the National Assembly acquainted the Director of the U.S. Embassy Branch Office in Banja Luka, with the forthcoming activities of the National Assembly, evaluating that the goal is to stay the most efficient parliament in the country, and to perform its constitutional jurisdiction, to enact laws and other decisions, in the interest of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska.

President Stevandic also used this meeting to allude to the necessary foreign judges’ leaving the Constitutional Court of BiH and to get attention on its political role which does not contribute to calming the situation in the country.

Stevandic also warned about the violation of the rights of the Serbian people.

“On the territory of today’s Balkan, the rights of the Serbian people are only one violated, was it on Kosovo, Montenegro, Croatia or Bosnia and Herzegovina highlighted Stevandic.

Powers congratulated Stevandic on taking over the function of the President of the National Assembly, wishing him luck and success in the forthcoming work.

The meeting was also about the actual political situation, the European path of the country, reforms, the economy, and the announcement of giving BiH the status of EU member candidate status.
