Celebrating 25 years of the Assembly: Memorial plaque unveiled on Jahorina to commemorate the Parliament sessions held during war period

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Čubrilović and vice president Sonja Karadžić-Jovičić unveiled today a memorial plaque in hotel "Bistrica", to mark the 25 years of the establishment and work of the Parliament of the Republic of Srpska.

They then discovered a plaque at "Paradise Valley" on Jahorina, where were held some of the most important sessions in the history of existence and work of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, including a session at which the Vance-Owen peace plan was discussed. This event was attended by Mayor of Pale Boško Jugović.

In the framework of the events dedicated to the jubilee, President Čubrilović opened today at gallery "Ceković home" in Pale the exhibition of archival documents related to 25 years of Serbian Parliament.

This is a part of our history, culture, and I hope that we will celebrate for many years the anniversaries of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska - said Čubrilović, adding that the period of a quarter of a century is not a short one and it is not usual for a state in this area to have persisted in these boundaries and competencies of statehood. According to him, this is a longer period than the Kingdom of Yugoslavia lasted and therefore there are many reasons to celebrate and mark this anniversary.

“We leave for generations to come to keep the Republic of Srpska, due to the history of the Serbian people in this region and its survival” - said Čubrilović.

Vice president of the National Assembly Sonja Jovičević-Karadžić said that in the past 25 years there was a constant sense of pride and belonging to a dignified nation.
Mayor of Pale Boško Jugović pointed out that Pale has a place it deserves in the Republic of Srpska, thus existing in a free state. Jugović said that setting will be exposed during the next ten days in "Ceković home," which is why we must seize the young generation to see what their grandparents were doing and learn about the chronology of creation, not just the National Assembly, but also the Republic of Srpska.
