President Čubrilović, Secretary General Zgonjanin and the members of the Committee on European integrations met with the representatives of the new Twinning project

The President of the National Assembly Nedeljko Čubrilović met in Banja Luka with the representatives of the parliaments of Hungary, Croatia and Austria, due to the beginning of the new Twinning project entitled:” Enhancing the role of parliaments in BiH in the EU integrations context”. These parliaments are the leaders of the Project worth 2,3 million €.

The representative of the National Assembly of Hungary and the leader of the project Zoltan Horvat emphasized during the meeting with the President Čubrilović that the main goal of the Project is enhancing the role of the parliament administration in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, the Parliament of the Federation BiH, the Assembly of Brčko district as well as cantonal assemblies in performing their activities related to the EU integration process.

The Project is financed from the EU IPA funds and is going to be realized in the next two years.

It has also been stressed that enhancing the role of parliaments concerning intensifying the coordination of parliaments in BiH is necessary because of the faster accession process and for the better implementation of action plans concerning EU integration process.

It is also highlighted that IPA funds will finance the IT equipment and software for all parliaments in BiH, worth 1,7 million €.

President Čubrilović thanked the representatives of the parliaments of Hungary, Croatia and Austria for their support in the new Twinning project, saying that it is a project of enhancing the parliament administration' roles ranging it with the highest European standards.

“National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska will give its maximum concerning the implementation of the Twinning project as it did before and Mr. Horvat, the leader of the project also thanked Mr Čubrilović for participation and responsible involvement in previous two Twinning projects. Secretary Genaral Nebojša Zgonjanin and the members of the Committee on European integrations also met today with the representatives of the new Twinning project. Objectives and the plans for realization of the project were their main sphere of interest during the meeting.

The members of the standing Committee introduced the Twinning leaders with their activities, emphasizing the approximation of the domestic law with EU acquis.

Secretary General also said that the administration of the National Assembly and the Committee on European integration and regional cooperation will be fully involved in realization of the project and in implementing its recommendations.
