President Čubrilović: The Republic of Srpska celebrates peace, freedom and equality of all people

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Čubrilović congratulated to all citizens of Srpska the 24th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Peace Accords, a day on which the Republic of Srpska celebrates peace, freedom and equality of all people.

"The Dayton Accords put an end to the bloody war and brought peace and to this day it is the most solid foundation that protects the constitutional position of the Republic of Srpska and the interests of the Serb people in BiH. In such complex political circumstances in BiH, the Republic of Srpska can only build its future, stability and prosperity on a solid Dayton foundation. That is why the highest institutions of the Republic are determined to defend the Dayton Peace Accords, as the basis for the survival and further strengthening of Srpska,"Čubrilović said in a statement to the Republic of Srpska News Agency.

The President of the National Assembly emphasized that for the Republic of Srpska, the Dayton Accords is a permanent, legal and political category, which is unambiguously confirmed by the recently adopted Conclusions of the Parliament regarding the Information on the unconstitutional transformation of the Dayton structure of BiH and the impact on the status and rights of the Republic of Srpska.

"We have made it clear that the National Assembly rejects any acts that are unconstitutional and violate the Dayton Agreement. We will continue to vigorously defend the constitutional principle according to which BiH was created by the Dayton Accords and is composed of two entities, the Republic of Srpska and the Federation of BiH and the Brcko District. Anything that is not in line with this principle leads to the destruction of BiH and threatens peace and stability,"said President Čubrilović.

He said that the signing of the Dayton Peace Accords reaffirmed the continuity and international legal personality of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Srpska would not allow any upgrade of Dayton or any constitutional reform in BiH, as it firmly states that the Dayton Agreement is a sufficient framework for equality and development of both Republic of Srpska and BiH.

"The Republic of Srpska will never allow any violent change in the Dayton system of BiH, despite the constant attacks on the Dayton structure, which is based on the most important principles - full respect for the constitutional position of the Republic of Srpska, its powers and territory and the equality of all three constituent and other peoples in BiH," said the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Čubrilović.
