President Stevandić in Donja Gradina on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of Serbs, Jews, and Roma in NDH

The Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of Serbs, Jews, and Roma in the Independent State of Croatia from 1941 until 1945 has been commemorated in the attendance of the officials of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia in Donja Gradina.

The commemoration was held for the victims of the concentration camp Jasenovac by laying wreaths on the grave field Topole in the memorial area Donja Gradina.

The wreaths were laid for half a million Serbs, 40 000 Roma, and 33 000 Jews were killed in the Jasenovac system of the NDH concentration camps.

On behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, a wreath was laid by President Dr Nenad Stevandć. The wreaths were also laid by the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, the President of the Montenegro Assembly, Andrija Mandć, the President of the Serbia Government Miloš Vučevć, Serbian member of the BiH Presidency, Zeljka Cvijanović, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Viškovć.

The President of the Association of Prisoners in WWII from Banja Luka, Dobrila Kukolj, also laid flowers, as well as, the Ambassador of Israel to BiH, with the Office in Tirana, Galit Pegel, and the President of the Roma Association of Serbia, Dragoljub Arsović, the representatives of the Republic of Srpska in common institutions of BiH and the representatives of the institutions of Serbia.

Flowers were laid by the representatives of the diplomatic corps as well as other delegations.

President Stevandić and other officials then attended the commemoration of the brutally murdered Serbian, Jewish, and Roma victims. The prayer was held by the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church on the Košuta cemetery, while the Roma prayer was held by the president of the World Roma Parliament, Dragoljub Acković, and the Jewish prayer was held by Isak Asijel, the chief rabbi of the Jewish community in Serbia.

The Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of Serbs, Jews, and Roma in the NDH is commemorated on the occasion of the liberation of the Jasenovac Ustasha camp, one of the largest and most terrible death camps in Europe.
