President Stevandic attended the state ceremony on the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia-Sretenje

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Dr Nenad Stevandic attended today in Orasac the ceremony celebrating the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia-Sretenje.

The Republic of Serbia celebrates Statehood Day, commemorating two important events from history which happened on this date, on Sretenje, February 10th- The first Serbian Uprising which occurred in 1804. And the declaration of the Sretenje Constitution in 1835.

President Stevandic, who together with the President of the National Assembly of Serbia Dr. Vladimir Orlic laid wreaths and commemorated the heroes of the First Serbian Uprising, at the monument of leader Karadjordje, congratulated the Statehood Day, on behalf of the National Assembly, the leadership and the citizens of Serbia.

“I want to convey greetings of the people from the Republic of Srpska, the President of the Republic of Srpska, and the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, who sent you sincere and warm congratulations on the occasion of Sretenje-Statehood Day”, said President Stevandic at the ceremony in Orasac.

Stevandic said that everything great in our nation comes from the will and strength of Serbian heroes.

"Everything great that we managed to do, and build was built after their sacrifices and victories." "Everything great that we have and inherit today is in the shadow of heroes, who did not regret their lives and whose courage always came before personal interest," said Stevandic.

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that heroism has changed over the centuries.

"Today, it is heroism when we open factories, build bridges, roads, hospitals, and all that to save the people." I want to congratulate the President of the Republic of Serbia, the Government, and the Parliament for everything they are doing for the rising up of Serbia and the protection of the people," said Stevandić.

President Stevandić said that the Republic of Srpska is looking up to Serbia, which is its biggest support.

"We in the Republic of Srpska, who are fighting for our right to survival on a daily basis, understand very well Serbia's struggle for the interests of its people, and that is why we look at and rely on Serbia and are proud of it. I greet you until the next Sretenje and our meeting and joint projects. I wish you all the best, glory to the heroes!", said Stevandic.

The President of the Assembly of Serbia, Vladimir Orlić, said that Sretenje is a symbol of statehood and the fight for freedom, and that the leadership of Serbia today is determined to lead a brave policy and do everything to make the country free and it’s own.

"On Sretenje, we celebrate the unity and hard-won state organization of Serbia, built on a firm decision to survive and exist, as well as to preserve the Serbian name and pronounce it with pride, and to nurture our language and alphabet," said Orlić.
