President Stevandić participated in a Public Discussion in Trebinje on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms, and Anthem

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandić, participated today, July 29, 2024, in the Public Discussion on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem, which was held in Trebinje.

During the discussion, President Stevandić said that the essence of this legal solution is to return the flag, the coat of arms of Nemanjić, and the hymn "God's Justice" to use in the Republic of Srpska and that their use be legally defined.

"In the text of this Draft Law, everything that will be acceptable to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Srpska is written, so that it does not happen that the law is overturned in the Constitutional Court. The goal of the law is to return the flag, the coat of arms of Nemanjić, with the double-headed eagle and the hymn "God's Justice" to use, which is regulated by law," Stevandić said at the public hearing, which was held in the Assembly Hall of the city of Trebinje.

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that this topic was widely accepted in the Republic of Srpska, with the participation of representatives of the non-governmental sector, associations, and organizations stemming from the Defense-Patriotic War, university professors, and the academic community, and that during the discussions and debates, there were no substantial objections to this Draft Law.

"We want to familiarize the general public with the provisions of this Draft Law and remove any possible ambiguities. Public discussions were held in Prijedor and Bijeljina, and will be held in East Sarajevo and Banja Luka. "Trebinje is one of the key places where a public discussion on such an important topic should be held so that all suggestions, support and remarks can be presented, and I don't expect any major ambiguities and problems," said Stevandić.

Stevandić pointed out that this Draft Law has all-Serbian support.

"All Serbs and all the most important political parties, except Trebinje, voted for this draft law. It was truly incredible that there would be anyone who would vote against it out of political exhibitionism. But, well, it happened. "I am sincerely sorry that it is someone from Trebinje, because this is, after all, something that is considered the essence of cultural, national, and historical heritage," said Stevandić.

On July 4, the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska adopted, at the Tenth Regular Session, the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem - a proposal by Dr. Nenad Stevandić, President of the National Assembly, with the Conclusion on sending this Draft Law to public discussion,

The public discussion in East Sarajevo will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, starting at 1 p.m., in the City Hall (Stefana Nemanje 14).
