Members of the Committee with Cristian Dan Preda on the progress in the process of European integrations

Members of the Committee on European Integration and Regional Cooperation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska met today in Banja Luka with the European Parliament's special rapporteur for Bosnia and Herzegovina Cristian Dan Preda) on the progress in the process of European integrations.

Chairman of the Committee Branislav Borenović introduced Dan Preda with the work of the Committee on European integrations and regional cooperation, noting that the Committee was established by unanimous decision of the National Assembly in order to engage in the process of harmonization of national legislation with the common EU acquis.

"In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the Committee is competent working body whose task is to check the compatibility of draft laws and proposals withn the joint EU acquis. We do so since its formation and this clearly demonstrates our unique attitude towards the European integration process," said Borenović.

He also introduced Dan Preda with the fact that on the initiative of the Committee on European Integrations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Parliamentary Forum for European Integrations was established, which besides this Committee consists of the Joint Commission on European Integrations and the Committee on European Integrations of the House of Representatives of the Federation BiH. He said that this forum meets every three months and that the conclusions are reached by consensus of all actors.

Dan Preda pointed out the necessity of cooperation between members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska with MPs and parliamentary groups of the European Parliament, pointing out that this process can begin even before the country joins EU.
