Čubrilović and Makarov signed a Protocol on cooperation of the National Assembly and the Parliament of Saint - Petersburg

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Čubrilović and President of Legislative Assembly of Saint - Petersburg Vyacheslav Makarov signed today in Banja Luka the Protocol on the results of negotiations between the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska and Parliament St. - Petersburg, which expresses the commitment to the development of cooperation between the two parliaments and largely contributes to the development of the Republic of Srpska and Saint - Petersburg.

The signatories to the Protocol have expressed their willingness to contribute to the development of economic, cultural and scientific contacts and contacts in the fields of education and tourism between the Republic of Srpska and Saint - Petersburg.

"The National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska and Legislative Assembly of St Petersburg express their readiness to develop and intensify contacts on the principles of equality and mutual interest, exchange of experience through working meetings of delegations of the two parliaments, as well as to contribute to the development of mutual business contacts," it was stated in the Protocol.

It was stressed that the two parliaments perform a regular exchange of information, while maintaining, if necessary, negotiations, meetings, seminars and consultations on issues of mutual interest.

President Čubrilović said that the Protocol includedes many areas of future cooperation between the Saint - Petersburg and the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska.

"It is a very important Protocol that strengthens our solid historical and sincere bonds of friendship and solidarity. Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska and Russian Federation in recent years has significantly intensified. A proof of this is the protocol by which we define cooperation in many areas of mutual benefit for our peoples," said Čubrilović.

President Čubrilović pointed out that Russia is grateful to the Republic of Srpska which remained neutral on the issue of sanctions EU towards Russia and dealing the issue of  relations with NATO.

Makarov said that the signed protocol is the continuation of cooperation at the highest level between Saint - Petersburg and the Republic of Srpska, and between senior officials from Russia and the Republic of Srpska.
"We will continue our cooperation on the platform of the International Economic Forum in Saint - Petersburg," said Makarov.
He added that the Protocol shall have practical effects in the fields of economy, development of small and medium business, tourism, culture and humanitarian projects.
It was agreed that in May this year "Days of Saint - Petersburg" shall be organized in the Republic of Srpska.
Makarov said that officials in Russia very closely observe the positions of the Republic of Srpska on international issues.
"With great pleasure I can say that our attitudes are completely similar, and that together we want to develop friendly relations and cooperation with other nations," said Makarov.

The signing of the Protocol was attended by high-level delegation of the Legislative Assembly of Saint - Petersburg and the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, and Russian Ambassador to BiH Peter Ivancov.
