The National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska in cooperation with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the University of Banja Luka signed a Memorandum of understanding in 2003 and also launched an internship program. Since 2006, the National Assembly leads this program on its own.
The program has given the opportunity for students and graduates whose study programs are related to law, economics, political science, philosophy, history and psychology to the activities defined in the program, with the work of the highest legislative body in the Republic of Srpska.
During the six-month internship, students are actively involved in the preparation of meetings of the working bodies, writing the minutes of the sessions of the working bodies, a comparative analysis of the law, the collection of information concerning acts of the agenda of the plenary sessions, as well as assistance in organizing thematic sessions of the parliamentary committees. Also, during the internship, students have an obligation to attend lectures on the legislative process in the Republic of Srpska, which organizes the service of Parliament. Visits to the major institutions of the Republic of Srpska are also organized for students.
Since the launch of this project, till today, the program was attended by about 500 students.
